Snow comeback and spring air – all in one weather report.
In Bavaria there will actually be both within the next few days.
Munich – Turbulent weather days are in store for the Free State.
And there is a bit of almost everything - it will rain, the sun will shine, snow and just be mild.
The contrasts in the current forecasts from the German Weather Service (DWD) are actually impressive.
On the one hand there is over ten centimeters of new snow, on the other hand it will almost reach 20 degrees - and all of this within the next few days in Bavaria.
Snow comeback in the Alps – DWD writes of over ten centimeters of new snow
Let's start with the white splendor, of which there wasn't much in this record winter - except it came with such force that it almost paralyzed the entire Free State.
This time the snowfall is limited to the higher altitudes.
According to the DWD, snow is expected to fall in the Alps from Tuesday evening, March 12th: “Snowfall limit in the Alps between 1000 and 1300 meters,” it says.
By Wednesday afternoon, March 13th, “up to five centimeters of fresh snow will fall in the western mountain groups, and locally over ten centimeters of fresh snow will fall in the Allgäu Alps in the reservoir areas.” From Wednesday onwards, the snowfall line will slowly rise again to over 1,500 meters.
In the Alps, winter is making a small comeback with fresh snow - but towards the weekend it will be really spring-like in Bavaria (symbolic image).

The DWD's ten-day trend forecast for Bavaria also shows that precipitation is also expected at the beginning of next week - whether this will come as rain or snow remains to be seen.

Snow in the Alps - but it's getting warmer in the lowlands
While there will still be a comparatively large amount of fresh snow in the Alps, the temperatures in the rest of Bavaria are slowly but steadily climbing.
Temperatures can be expected to be just over ten degrees until Tuesday evening, and by Wednesday evening it will be twelve to 13 degrees.

There will be a sharper rise in temperature on Thursday, March 14th: In Munich it will be 17 degrees until the evening, writes the DWD, and in Bamberg in the north of the Free State it will even be 18 degrees.
On Friday, March 15th, temperatures will remain at a similarly high level across the board.
According to the ten-day trend forecast, things will go down a bit again over the coming weekend.
By the middle of next week at the latest, the 20 degrees could be reached again.
