The first stage of the Mikveh Taharah was opened in the historical city of Kaliningrad/Beit Chabad Kaliningrad

Between Poland and Lithuania, on the coast of the Baltic Sea, lies a piece of Russian territory, the historic city of Kaliningrad, known by its former name 'Königsberg', where thousands of Jews live, and hundreds of thousands of tourists visit it throughout the year.

The largest synagogue in the city was built and restored several years ago, exactly where the synagogue stood before the war and was destroyed in the famous Kristallnacht.

The new synagogue was opened with great pomp and splendor with the participation of the chief rabbi of Russia, the Gaon Rabbi Berel Lazar, who since then visited it several more times, to train and supervise the many food establishments located in the area, and especially to meet the many needs of the community, and for this purpose he appointed the emissaries of the Lubavitcher rabbi in the city Avraham Baruch Deitch and his family, for the management of the Chabad house and the development of community institutions.

After the establishment of the Great Synagogue, the Jews of Kaliningrad expected the establishment of a mikveh of purity as the basis of a Jewish home according to the Halacha, and due to Kaliningrad's unique location on the world map, the most accessible mikveh is just across the border , or by a flight of about two and a half hours to the capital cities of Moscow or Petersburg, of course the most difficult thing for the families of the community, and the most necessary and necessary was to build a mikveh tahara as soon as possible.

With great efforts, this arose and became a reality, thanks to the help of governors and dear friends from all over the world, the European Rabbinical Center, the 770 Foundation, and many more who opened their hearts and pockets and were privileged to be partners in bringing purity to Israel, in a city that has already been a hundred years since the last mikvah in which it was destroyed by the Zemids .

Last week, the Jews of the city celebrated the official opening of the first phase of the luxurious mikvah, designed by the world-renowned architect and mikvah specialist Rabbi Shmuel Levin, under the close supervision of Rabbi Zalman Shimon HaCohen Daran, secretary and rabbi of the mikvah on behalf of the Chief Rabbinate for Russia headed by the Chief Rabbi of Russia.

At the setting of the mezuzah at the main door, the Chabad emissary in the city, Rabbi Avraham Baruch Deitsch, honored the Rabbi of the city, Rabbi David Schwedik, and at the removal of the lot, the head of the community, Mr. Eliezer Yeremiahu Flitman, and the

governor, Mr. Yevgeni Kharmov, were honored. By the Mohel Rabbi Mordechai Zvi Salmon, who came on behalf of the organization 'Brit Yosef Yitzchak', and together with the young shluchim - the students of the yeshiva for young people in Moscow, who came for a strengthening Shabbat as part of a journey between all the communities in Russia - Kaliningrad experienced a particularly uplifting Hasidic Jewish week.
