A new CEO for Channel 13 - The channel's board of directors approved this evening (Tuesday) the appointment of Emiliano Kalmazuk as the company's CEO.

Kalmzuk will receive the keys to the channel from chairman Nadav Topolsky, who has been managing the channel since the beginning of 2024, with the departure of CEO Yoram Altman.

Kalmazuk (50) has over 25 years of experience in senior management positions in the television and entertainment industry in the US, Latin America and Europe. He is an entrepreneur and consultant, founded companies such as Raze (now part of Warner Bros. Discovery in Latin America), and advised companies, including Sony Entertainment Ventures, Time Inc (India) and the Israeli startup Deepdub. He serves as a director at Mercadolibre (traded on Nasdaq), the leading e-commerce and payment platform in Latin America.

Kalmazuk's professional experience spans channel management, as well as scripted and non-scripted content production at Fox Entertainment Group worldwide.

He served as CEO of Shine Group Americas (a unit of 21st Century Fox), where he managed and led hit shows, including "The Office" for NBC, "Betty" for ABC, "Going Down Big" for NBC and "MasterChef" for Fox.

As the president of Fox Television Studios, he led the company that produced hit series such as "The Shield", "Agent Makoh" and "The Americans", and led the group to a turn-around (efficiency process) that increased its revenues to 400 million dollars and profitability.

In his various positions, Kalamazuk managed large communication systems in diverse markets.

He served as President of Fox International Channels Europe in Rome during the launch of SKY Italia in 2002, where he managed all multi-channel operations in Spain, France, Germany, Turkey and Eastern Europe.

A native of Argentina, Kalmazuk graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors and speaks five languages.

He immigrated to Israel with his family from Los Angeles in 2019, and in recent months joined the management of Network 13 as a professional consultant.

The fall of Network 13: the story behind the great failure of "Peking Express"

Channel 13 is in difficult difficulties, and in the past year it lost the second place in most of the channels in favor of channel 14. Just last week, the company's new and invested reality show, "Peking Express", reached a low figure of 4%.

The channel's news division, which at the beginning of the war actually achieved relatively good viewing figures, is also declining, and many times its main edition is at the bottom of the daily viewing chart.

Accordingly, the company suffers from managerial instability - at least six CEOs have changed in the last five years at the channel and its news company. The last of them, Altman, served in the position for only a year and a half.

Nadav Topolsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Network 13, said: "We are happy to add to our ranks Emiliano as the new CEO of Network 13. With his rich experience and proven track record in the media and entertainment industry, we are confident that he will lead the channel to new achievements.

We look forward to working closely with him to continue to create interesting content and new experiences for our viewers."

Board members of Network 13, Jamie Cook, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros. Discovery (US), and Danny Cohen, President of Access Entertainment , added: "Emiliano's extensive experience in the global television and content market is a huge asset to Network 13."

Emiliano Kalmazuk said: "It is an honor for me to join the team of Network 13, and I thank the shareholders and the board of directors for the expression of trust. I believe that through creativity and hard work, we can achieve great results together, for the benefit of Network 13, the State of Israel and its people."
