Meanwhile, the AOK boss describes the scenes from the previous day.

Find out the latest on Monday's violence here.

Homicide in Freising - The summary from Monday, March 12th:

Freising

- There are gruesome scenes that take place early on Monday morning in the middle of Freising: At around 5.45 a.m., a passer-by noticed a lifeless person in the parking lot behind the AOK headquarters on Kammergasse and called the emergency number.

A little later, not only does the emergency doctor arrive there, but more and more police officers rush in and cordon off the area where the find was found.

Because the 73-year-old Freisinger lying on the ground is dead - and his external injuries make it clear: an act of violence must have taken place here, just a few hundred meters from the old town.

In the morning, crime scene officers meticulously examine the parking lot, while colleagues from Erding Criminal Investigation Department canvass the neighborhood looking for witnesses.

Forensics from Munich also arrived to examine the body.

Body found in Freising: passers-by are shocked, AOK staff receive instructions

People who visit the health insurance office, which is still open, or wait for the bus in front of it on Wippenhauser Strasse, are shocked and speechless when they find out about the crime around the corner.

The AOK staff is instructed to keep windows and blinds closed in the direction of the crime scene.

The local THW is later called in to secure the crime scene and to install a large-scale visual barrier on Kammergasse.

The nature of the fatal injuries and the further circumstances of the crime are initially unclear.

The police do not want to comment on rumors that are circulating, especially regarding the murder weapon, for tactical reasons.

What will be announced in the afternoon, however, is that the 73-year-old had most recently lived near the site of the discovery.

And while checking his apartment, police officers found a 43-year-old woman.

The woman, a Czech citizen registered in the Munich area, is arrested - because, according to the investigators, she is strongly suspected of being responsible for the man's death.

The relationship between the victim and the suspect is now the focus of the investigation

There is no evidence of a family connection, “any previous relationships between the people in question now need to be determined,” explains Andreas Aichele, spokesman for the Upper Bavaria North Police Headquarters, when asked.

The Landshut public prosecutor's office is applying for an arrest warrant for a homicide, and the woman should be brought before a judge on Tuesday.

A funeral service was requested to remove the body.

Freising's mayor Tobias Eschenbacher was deeply shocked by the crime on Monday.

“We were pretty thrown off track this morning by this news that a homicide had occurred in Freising,” said the mayor on the sidelines of a press conference.

“It hits us all very hard here in the town hall, and our thoughts are with the relatives of the victim.” What happened there is a tragedy.

He hopes that the crime can be solved quickly.

Update 12.13 p.m.:

“A direct connection to the AOK, to this company premises is absolutely not apparent so far,” explained police spokesman Andreas Aichele in another media release.

“It's probably more about the immediate surroundings.” However, it is still too early to provide further valid information about the identity of the dead senior.

Update 11.45 a.m.:

There are further new findings about the body found on Freising's Kammergasse: As Andreas Aichele, spokesman for the Upper Bavaria North Police Headquarters, reported when asked by our newspaper, the identity of the victim has not yet been finally clarified.

“But we already have a pretty well-founded guess.”

The dead man was an older man, around his mid-70s. “He obviously died violently,” said Aichele.

The body was discovered by a passerby in the early morning hours.

According to the spokesman, forensic doctors from Munich are currently at the crime scene to examine the body.

At the same time, the responsible Erding police are doing their work and, among other things, are questioning the neighborhood.

Aichele: “At the same time, traces are being secured.”

No danger to the population - AOK remains open

The closure of Kammergasse for this will probably be lifted shortly after midday.

The AOK office can now work as usual, the main entrance is freely accessible and the police investigations have no impact on the staff.

It is also unlikely that the Freising population will be at risk.

“Without wanting to prejudge the results of the investigation, we are convinced that the population is not exposed to any form of danger,” explained Andreas Aichele.

Shocked passers-by - initial information from police headquarters

Update 9:05 a.m.:

As our reporter from on site reports, in the Kammergasse area you will meet some shocked and speechless passers-by during these hours, while the Freisinger AOK building complex and the section of the one-way street are cordoned off by the police.

Otherwise, the situation now seems calm: several patrol cars and civilian emergency vehicles are parked near the health insurance company, the investigators are doing their work and have had their colleagues close the turnoff from Wippenhauser Straße uphill towards Kammergasse to traffic.

Further information about the circumstances of the crime has not yet been answered locally.

In the meantime, the Upper Bavaria North Police Headquarters issued a three-line press release stating that the dead person was a man and that “a non-natural cause of death is assumed”.

“The Erding Criminal Police Inspectorate has taken over the investigation in this case.”

As a spokesman for the Freising police explained, no details could be given at this time.

Just this much: “The lifeless person was in the parking lot behind the AOK - and she definitely did not die of natural causes.” The investigators on site would now have to clarify everything else.
