Will it be an academic?

In the current play at the Volksbühne Eichenried, “Where there is planing, there are chips falling,” carpenter Ludwig is looking for a son-in-law.

Eichenried – Maximilian Baum started acting at the Volksbühne Eichenried when he was two years old.

Back then he was allowed to play a tree, in keeping with his family name, he remembers and laughs.

The 27-year-old has now worked his way up to become a real star with four different speaking roles.

In the current play “Where there is planing, there are chips falling” he takes on the role of the clever actor friend Franz, who lends his talent to his old acquaintance Eva.

The bright student has problems with her father, the master carpenter Ludwig.

Because Eva, cleverly played by newcomer Lea Müller, has fallen in love with a carpenter (spontaneously stepped in: Timo Vieregg).

But the father wants his daughter to have an academic husband, says actor Hubert Scheckenhofer with a lot of sawdust in his hair.

Maybe a doctor, a lawyer or an entrepreneur, he explains to his wife Rosa (Laura Lachenmaier) and aunt Erna.

But she doesn't really listen.

She is too busy complaining about her intestinal obstruction and reading romance novels, which causes actress Manuela Baum to get a lot of laughs from the audience.

At the same time, son Andi doesn't want to take over his father's carpentry business, but instead wants to get his high school diploma and study.

That's why Maximilian Baum has to do it now.

He should dress up and be introduced to his father as Eva's future husband.

He is supposed to misbehave so badly that Ludwig abandons all of his demands.

As soon as audience favorite Baum comes through the door in his first role with a beard and doctor's coat, he has the laughs on his side.

Babbling and saying rude things, he also helps his aunt with her constipation with the expired plum liqueur in his pocket.

The audience cheers as Erna runs into the house and the supposed doctor collapses in the armchair with his hip flask.

Papa Ludwig quickly realizes: It doesn't necessarily have to be a doctor.

But shortly afterwards, Baum, as a prospective public prosecutor, and Preiß show him that a lawyer is not necessarily the better choice.

He punishes every little infraction, from working on the garden fence on Sundays to every little “idiot” insult - not to mention the carpentry work done underhand by neighbor Fanny (Michaela Kübelsbeck).

When a supposedly Italian mafioso shows up a short time later and presents his dubious business background, master carpenter Ludwig bursts his hat.

The actor Scheckenhofer plays the complete overwhelm brilliantly.

She should take whoever she wants, as long as she has someone normal!

He almost doesn't care that his son introduces him to his new girlfriend Petra (Sabrina Konrad) and explains that he won't take over the business.

Is there still a happy ending for everyone?

In any case, the group was rewarded with long applause at the Stangl country inn.

Every role was consistently played out in terms of facial expressions and gestures, brilliant gags and a lovingly designed stage that was extended 80 centimeters to the front as a farmhouse parlor because of the upcoming children's theater left nothing to be desired.

Finally, to her own surprise, chairwoman Daniela Krause was honored for 20 years of work in the club in front of the “oversold hall” with around 100 spectators.

After rehearsals began at the beginning of the year, Maximilian Baum injured his leg in a tobogganing accident.

The directors Lisa Stadler and Renate Bichlmeier were already thinking about changing the cast.

“But I said: I just have to play the role,” Baum explained emphatically.

To go from drunk to drunk to Italian in the space of two minutes is something completely different.

So off to the doctor, put on a splint, grit your teeth.

Because wherever there is planing, chips fall.
