Gadi Mozes celebrates his 80th birthday today (Tuesday) while in the captivity of Hamas.

Shortly before the attack on Otaf, his family began planning a big celebration in honor of his birthday.

Now, in his absence, she gathered in a small group, to mention and talk about him.

"We were thinking of doing a big event for the extended family. Who would have thought that we would get involved in this," says his son Yair.

Moses' partner, Efrat, was murdered on October 7.

Her daughter Doron Katz-Asher and her granddaughters Raz and Aviv, aged five and two, were also kidnapped from Nir Oz, as well as Gadi's ex-wife, Margalit Mozes.

They all returned months ago as part of the deal to release the abductees.

Gadi stayed behind, alone.

"Raz and Aviv became his granddaughters for everything. They constantly ask where Grandpa is, when Grandpa is coming back," Yair shares.

"The situation is getting difficult day by day," he admits.

"You feel tired, the difficulty is increasing, but you have no choice but to find strength. So sometimes it takes a day or two to disconnect, but we continue to shout his cry. We can't free him ourselves, but we meet with those who need to."

One of the meetings was held yesterday, with Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

"We did not come out with happy news. There is no special progress," says Yair.

"Galant said that the media sometimes say unsubstantiated things. The feeling is that they are waiting for Hamas, who delays time and does not give an answer. The last proposal that Israel agreed to as a basis for negotiations did not receive a positive or negative answer from Hamas. Since then there has been nothing."

According to him, "The estimates are that Hamas has an interest in Ramadan to heat up the region and not to calm it down. I hope they will see that the weekend passes peacefully without too much mess and understand that we must continue in the direction of negotiations. We also continue to work under international pressure on the Egyptians and Qataris. Our time is much more pressing than Hamas's ".

Three months ago the family received their first sign of life from Gadi.

In a video published by Hamas, he is seen calling on the government to act for his release and warning of the danger of captivity, alongside the abducted Elad Katzir.

That was the last time information was heard about his fate.

"Today my father is 80 years old, he is not a young man. Every day that passes I fear for his life more," says Yair.

"Since the Haim sign we received on December 19, which we also don't know if it was really taken around that date, we don't know anything about him. I hope he receives minimal conditions that allow him to continue to exist. We didn't think and made up our minds that we would celebrate him when he is there."
