Whether by bus, train or plane: Warning strikes are ruining the travel plans of many Hamburg residents these days.
There will be no flights to Hamburg next Thursday.
Hamburg - Due to another warning strike at security checks, Hamburg Airport has canceled all take-offs with passengers on Thursday.
The airport announced on Tuesday evening that 141 planned departures were affected.
Passengers were asked to contact their airline and not come to the airport.
It can also be assumed that the after-effects of the strike will still be felt on Friday - and thus at the start of the holidays in Hamburg.
Planes could land on Thursday.
“However, there may be flight cancellations and significant delays throughout the day for arrivals at Hamburg Airport due to the Verdi strike,” the statement said.
Because of the strike, no early check-in is possible on Wednesday and Thursday.
Originally, 286 flights - 141 departures and 145 arrivals - with a total of around 40,000 passengers were planned for Thursday.
The Verdi union has called on employees in the security area of the airport to stop work for the whole day.
In addition to passenger screening, checks on goods and cargo and in service areas are also affected, the union said.
With the renewed work stoppage, Verdi wants to increase the pressure on employers in the current aviation security collective bargaining round.
The airports in Berlin, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe/Baden Baden and Cologne are also affected.
