The 59-year-old, accused of very serious injuries aggravated by trivial reasons, will have to compensate the victim for the damages suffered by paying a provisional amount of 10 thousand euros for "deformation of appearance caused by permanent injuries to the face".
According to what was reconstructed by the investigations of the agents of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office of the police headquarters, the 59-year-old would have discussed with the victim who, according to him, was guilty of having parked the car incorrectly which prevented him from making a manoeuvre.
Between the two, standing near the central Piazza Catuma, harsh words were exchanged first, then a few slaps until the alleged attacker grabbed the victim from behind and then bit his ear off.
The person who called 113 was a passerby who also recovered the ear by placing it in a box.
The 46-year-old was rescued and transported first to the Bonomo hospital in Andria, then urgently transferred to the plastic surgery unit in Bari where he underwent a delicate surgery.
Helping the investigation were not only the testimonies collected on site but also the images recorded by the video surveillance systems in the area which captured the moments of the argument and the attack.
