Idyllically located, but also problematic: the Isarwahn kiosk on the Wittelsbacher Bridge.

A missing sewer connection endangers the existence of the cult kiosk “Isarwahn”.
But now there is hope: a connection to the sewer system should be investigated.
Bureaucratic hurdles, absent contacts and responsibilities almost drove the operators of the Isarwahn kiosk crazy last year.
If nothing changes, the preservation of the popular meeting place would be at risk, they explained to the responsible Untergiesing-Harlaching district committee.
The problem: a missing sewage connection.
No kiosk without a sewer connection
Without it, the kiosk at Wittelsbacherbrücke cannot continue to operate in the long term.
But building a sewer connection to the kiosk seemed equally impossible.
At the end of last year there was an on-site meeting between the nature conservation authority, the building department and the operators.
The result cautiously gives hope.
Canal connection towards Schyrenplatz?
In colloquial terms you could say: It won't be easy, but we'll find a solution.
The connection to the sewer system should run in the direction of Schyrenplatz, that much is clear.
However, laying the pipes underground around the trees with their dense roots is difficult.
The risk of permanent damage is too great.
The operators suggested having environmentally friendly options examined by an engineering firm and covering the costs of the connection themselves.
Kiosk operators fear high costs
A solution that the construction department also likes.
“In order to be able to support you with further action, the results of the engineering office’s investigation must now be awaited,” the authority says.
For the Isarwahn operators, this sounds complex - and quite expensive to boot.
But at least something is finally happening.
So there is hope that the cult kiosk can stay.
