The city's goal of greening and cooling the city center at the expense of some parking spaces is a concern for citizens and business people.
Erding - Two city council factions and local associations, the SPD and the Greens, have now spoken out and support the redesign of the square in front of the Sparkasse on Schrannenplatz.
“Twelve lost parking spaces are not the end of the world,” write local Green Party spokespersons Konrad Thees and Lisa Schießer in their press release.

Stefan Grabrucker defended the restructuring decision on behalf of the SPD at the general meeting (we reported).

He cited scientific studies according to which, on the one hand, the proportion of customers who come to old towns by car is overestimated.
On the other hand, fewer parking spaces directly in front of the shop door could actually increase sales.
In addition, the city of Erding is planning a large parking garage near the center.
In general, Grabrucker complained about “the prevailing general social mood, in which there is a lot of complaining, but unfortunately too little attention is paid to positive developments and community spirit.”
