After the death threats against town hall staff, he took it up a notch.
A man attempted to set himself on fire in the middle of city hall late Monday morning.
The police managed to handcuff him before he managed to light his lighter.
Arrested immediately, he was placed in police custody for “death threats against a person responsible for a public service mission” and “attempted degradation by dangerous means for people”, as highlighted this Tuesday by the Créteil public prosecutor's office.
Tuesday afternoon, the suspect was still in custody at the town police station, in charge of the investigation.
This affair, revealed by Actu Paris, began last Saturday with a simple phone call.
“A man began to threaten the elected representative of his sector who was on the hotline,” reports the mayor’s office.
The words are not gentle.
“He indicated that he had just finished ten years in prison and that he was living with his mother,” adds the town hall.
He applied for housing but the town hall's proposal did not suit him.

A can and a lighter on him
Only, on Monday, at the end of the morning, he physically comes to the premises of the municipal social action center, in particular to the housing service, which is located at the town hall.
He arrives with a container under his arm and a lighter in one hand.
The message is clear.
He demands alternative accommodation otherwise he threatens to set himself on fire.
He sprays himself with the flammable liquid to show his seriousness.
On site, the municipal police arrived and tried to reason with the maniac.
Without success.
They then managed to isolate him in a room while waiting for the municipal police.
The staff took the opportunity to take shelter while waiting.
Finally, the national police intervened and managed to control him without problem.
According to a source, “he would not have tried to light his lighter.
