At the TSV 1860 game against Jena in the Grünwald stadium, restaurateur Lorenz Stiftl was no longer able to serve beer - because of a power outage, as he says.
The city of Munich has now confirmed the dilapidated electrical system in the lion's homeland.
It has long been known that the Grünwalder Stadium is actually a major construction site (i.e. in need of renovation).
This was also shown in the most recent episode, when restaurateur Lorenz Stiftl was no longer able to serve beer at the game against Jena last Saturday - as he says, because the power was out.
Lions and restaurateurs have to turn on generators
The Department for Education and Sport (RBS) now stated that it had no knowledge of this specific power outage.
But it continues: “Otherwise, in the current structural situation in the stadium, with the existing connected load and the size of the transformer, only a basic supply of electricity can be covered, which makes it necessary for the respective club and the catering industry to set up generators, especially when the stadium is at full load “In plain language: The electrical system is so dilapidated that the lions and the innkeepers have to provide their own electricity with generators.
This was also taken into account to reduce the rent.
And that's when fans from outside are already complaining about the high ticket prices at the Lions.
No new figures for renovation have been obtained since 2022
When will the deficiencies be corrected?
Not clear.
When asked about the costs of the renovation, RBS has to admit that there have been no updated figures since March 2022.
At that time - exactly two years ago - the city council decided on further plans to improve the lion's homeland.
The cost estimate at the time: 77 million euros.
In view of the ever-increasing building prices, the Grünwalder is in danger of becoming either a million-dollar grave or a building in ruins.
