Can I still wear my hair long and loose at 46?

Ulrike Stamm asks herself.

She was the first strong woman with a strong text in the monologues for International Women's Day.

Landsberg - Who run the world?

Girls!” sang the Queen of Pop Beyoncé in the first single from her fourth album in 2011. The refrain says it all – especially on International Women’s Day today, March 8th.

The evening before, the Landsberger stage invited people to “Monologues on International Women’s Day” in the city theater foyer.

Ulrike Stamm, Patricia Eckstein, Rubina Lichtenstern, Anna Behrendt, Luisa Bredschneijder, Maria Sedelmayr and Daniela Echterbruch are the names of the seven women who couldn't be more different.

They only have two things in common: They are all in the landsberger bühne club and they are all women.

Equality with men?

Nothing reported so far.

Why should they, they are women.

And apart from that, the ladies also have to deal with a variety of problems.

Why?

Simply because they are women.

That was the tenor of the evening, which was brought to life by the landsberger bühne: a reading of seven texts by German writers that deal with the burden of being a woman.

And they were well received in the packed foyer of the city theater.

The listeners - including men - got additional chairs, some sat on the stairs or made themselves comfortable on the first floor of the foyer.

They listened intently to the texts that were recited by the seven strong women with fervor, as if they were their own stories.

Patricia Eckstein read the text “The Good Daughter” by Bettina Pili.

It is about a woman who has been chosen to look after “the mother”.

Of course my brother could do it too, but he has to work.

And apart from that, he's too sophisticated for it anyway, after all it's not a nice job.

But no one sees that the woman would have to divide herself in two in order to cope with all the tasks assigned to her, simply because she is a woman.

On the contrary.

“She could do more.”

Too old for that?

“Can I still wear my hair long and loose at 46?” is a text by Sibylle Berg, read by Ulrike Stamm.

Absolutely not, far too old, is what the other side says.

“Cut your hair, cut your head!” But even then it wouldn’t be right, because women always have flaws.

They are too thin or too fat, too lifted or too ugly.

Completely in contrast to men.

They are never too old or too fat.

Maria Sedelmayr also spoke about the woman's age.

She read the text “Short speech about a long story” by Eva Schulz-Jander.

It was about words or sentences that she never wants to hear again.

“Sprightly” is one of them.

“At her age” or “You can’t do that anymore” also infuriates her.

What's going on at this age?

A woman can still learn new dance steps, attend a concert, travel - in short: live.

After an hour the monologues were over.

What remained for a long time was the enthusiastic applause of the audience.

In addition to the strong women, this also applied to Claudia Dlugosch and Diedke Moser, who selected the texts and developed them with the actresses.

The monologues were musically combined by Arnd Sprung on the guitar.

There was no entry fee for this evening; donations were intended to benefit the “Initiativkreis Frauenhaus Landsberg”.

He is committed to building a women's shelter in the district.
