Enormous traffic volumes, tunnel closures and block handling: Anyone who was traveling in the west of Munich on Tuesday morning needs strong nerves and a big cushion of time.
The train drivers' renewed rail strike presented challenges for many commuters in and around Munich on Tuesday.
Anyone who took the car had to have strong nerves that day.
At least that was true for everyone driving in the west of the state capital.
Several accidents caused long traffic jams there.
The Fürstenfeldbruck traffic police said two motorway tunnels had to be closed.
There were so many drivers on the road during rush hour that the Aubing tunnel on the A99 had to be blocked at around 7 a.m.
The result: backlog.
“Around 8:45 a.m., block handling had to be switched on in both directions for the Allach tunnel,” according to the inspection.
The situation was even worse in the Eching tunnel, where three rear-end collisions occurred around 7:45 a.m.
Twice “only” two cars collided with each other.
However, five vehicles were involved in the third collision.
Accidents do not cause injuries
None of those involved were injured in the collision.
As a result, the passage had to be temporarily closed.
Another rear-end collision occurred in the backlog.
At least one lane was only reopened at 8:30 a.m.
The Greifenberg, Landsberg and Eching fire departments did everything they could to ensure that traffic could flow again by 10:30 a.m.
There were also problems on the A9 in the direction of Munich.
While trying to avoid an accident, a car hit a tractor-trailer.
Due to the accident, the left and middle lanes had to be closed for a short time.
Traffic was able to be diverted past the accident site via the right lane.
The Feldgeding, Wiedenzhausen and Sulzemoos fire departments were on duty.
