More than 11 million visitors over 12 days of events.
15,000 athletes from 206 countries.
The Olympic Games promise an international celebration, which will take place without a certain number of Parisians.
According to the site Gens de Confiance, the financial windfall in terms of apartment rentals that such competition represents as well as the complications announced in transport for example, are all reasons favoring an exodus of inhabitants of the capital.
Five months before the start of the Olympic Games, the platform records a spectacular 50% increase in reservations outside the capital from Parisians.

“We even see three times more reservations on Gens de Confiance on the dates of the tests than during the period from August 12 to 25.
This increase is indeed linked to the organization of the Olympic Games.
The festivities boost the departure of residents elsewhere in France, even if it means breaking the bank,” explains Bertille Marchal, spokesperson for Gens de Confiance.
Nearly 20% more budget on vacation accommodation
Some users mention “an excitement such that we prefer to move away from it”, or even a lack of confidence in “the security system put in place” which does not reassure them.
Others see it as “a financial gain” allowing them to “go on vacation with family and friends” by renting their accommodation during the two weeks of competition.
But where are Parisian residents heading in summer exodus?
According to Gens de Confiance, the most popular destinations are Morbihan, Var and Loire-Atlantique, followed by Corsica and Vendée.
The average budget per night increases by 19% compared to 2023 (1494 euros per night compared to 1258 euros over the same period in 2023) while Parisians will leave on average at 7, a stable figure compared to the previous year.
