A selection of the standard bearers (a man and a woman), without the stars of French sport?
This is what the French Olympic Committee is moving towards, which will announce this Wednesday the criteria chosen to elect the one who will lead the imposing tricolor selection during the Paris Olympic Games (from July 26 to August 11).
The standard bearer will not be Kylian Mbappé, nor Antoine Dupont, nor Victor Wembanyama, three immense French athletes, known to the general public but who have never participated in the Olympics.
Because one of the criteria for applying is to have already attended the big Olympic stage.
Another condition: candidates must not have already been a standard bearer in the past.
In fact, two other stars will be eliminated: Teddy Riner, head of the delegation in Rio in 2016, and Clarisse Agbégnénou, who succeeded him in Tokyo in 2021 (she shared the role with gymnast Samir Ait Said, who will not be able to no longer be renewed).
