In Bielefeld, shots were fired in the city center on Saturday evening.
One person is said to have been fatally injured.

Update from March 10th, 4:08 p.m.:
Since Saturday evening (March 9th), the police and public prosecutor's office in Bielefeld have been investigating fatal shots that were fired in the pedestrian zone.
The victim has been identified in various reports as a former professional boxer, but investigators have not yet released a name, citing privacy rights.
According to official information, the victim is a 38-year-old from Bielefeld with Kosovar nationality.
According to the police report, the man died “at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.”
On Sunday, the police and public prosecutor announced: “The investigation into the perpetrators is ongoing.”
Late on Saturday evening, a person was provisionally arrested based on a witness statement, but “suspicion was not confirmed,” according to investigators.
“The person was released.”
Special forces searched several apartments in the city, but this did not lead to the arrest of possible perpetrators.
The investigators are now hoping for witness statements and images from the crime scene.
There was initially no reliable information about a possible motive.
Speculation about a possible connection to clan crime could neither be confirmed nor denied, a spokeswoman for the Bielefeld police told the

After shots fired in Bielefeld city center: “no danger to bystanders”
Update from March 10th, 6:15 a.m.:
The large-scale police operation in Bielefeld is still ongoing on Sunday morning.
However, the police and public prosecutor's office declare that there is "no danger to bystanders."
At around 6 p.m. on Saturday, one or more perpetrators approached a Bielefeld man with Kosovar citizenship and shot him.
The victim died at the scene; according to information from
Bild
, it is said to be the former boxing professional Besar Nimani.
His brother also said in a Facebook post that Nimani had been killed in Bielefeld.
The prosecutor and police confirm that the fugitive perpetrator is being sought.
Update from March 9th, 10:02 p.m.:
So far, the police have not released any information about the shooting in downtown Bielefeld.

, a group of men were said to be leaving a café when the shots were fired.
An ex-professional boxer was fatally injured.
He had already been shot once in the past.

Parts of the city center were cordoned off by the police.

the perpetrator or perpetrators - the exact number is currently unknown - are on the run.
When asked by IPPEN.MEDIA, the Bielefeld police said they could not pass on any information about the incident for the time being.
According to the Bielefelder Blatt, eyewitnesses and relatives are being looked after on site.
The police stated that they wanted to publish a press release as soon as possible.
At the end of last year, fatal shots were fired at a school in Offenburg.
A 15-year-old then confessed to the crime.
