Because Fabrikberg is currently closed, many drivers take the route through Ostenstrasse.
At peak times this means quite a lot of traffic.

There is a traffic jam on Ludwig-Thoma-Strasse in Dachau.
Responsible: Extensive construction work.
Drivers ignore the proposed detour.
Dachau - Since last Thursday, work has been going on again on Ludwig-Thoma-Strasse, more precisely on the section between Osten- and Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse, which has since been closed in both directions.
The background to the measure is that in order to guarantee the future drinking water supply on the former paper factory site, the municipal utilities have to carry out extensive water pipe construction work under Ludwig-Thoma-Straße.
The work began at the beginning of September and was scheduled to be completed - in three phases - by Christmas 2023.
However, due to the onset of winter, the third construction phase was postponed and should now finally be implemented from March 7th to April 19th.
The problem: As in construction phases I and II, many drivers do not use the recommended bypass around the construction site.
Coming from the south, this leads via Frühlingstraße, Martin-Huberstraße and Mittermayerstraße, and from the north via Bruckerstraße, Ludwig-Dill- and Schillerstraße.
“Sure, that’s a detour,” says Christian Olschowsky, traffic expert for the Dachau police.
However, the detour is better than driving straight to the construction site and then getting stuck in a traffic jam.
“That’s stupid and none of us want that,” said Olschowsky.
In fact, this stupid situation has happened again since last week.
Three times a day, namely in the morning, at midday and around 5 p.m., the cars pushed their way through Ostenstrasse towards the city.
Olschowsky speaks of a “traffic chaos” that is particularly aggravated by the cars parked on the left and right on the side of the road.
For this reason, there was an on-site appointment on Monday with representatives of the Dachau police and the Dachau public order office.
Result: The situation must be “defused,” as Olschowsky reports.
From now on, a one-sided parking ban will ensure better traffic flow and better access for cars through the narrow Ostenstrasse.
However, Olschowsky asks drivers to stick to the recommended detour.
Truck and bus drivers in particular should remember that the railway underpass on Ostenstrasse is only 2.70 meters high.
As reported, a bus driver got stuck in the underpass with his 3.30 meter high vehicle on Thursday evening.
Although the driver and passengers were not injured, the damage to the bus and structure was extensive, according to police.
