There will be another test alarm in Bavaria on Thursday.
Due to the lack of sirens in the Miesbach district, cell broadcast and warning apps are taking over this function.
District – Another Bavaria-wide warning day will take place on Thursday (March 14th).
“The federal and state governments as well as the participating districts, cities and municipalities are testing their warning devices in a joint exercise,” explains the Miesbach district office.
The test alarm is carried out regularly on the second Thursday in March of each year.
Test alarm on Thursday: message comes to cell phone
The warning message is triggered centrally by the Ministry of the Interior at 11 a.m.
At 11:45 a.m. the Interior Ministry will give the all-clear again.
Important: There is no danger to the population.
The test warning message is sent to the population, for example, via radio, television, digital display boards, sirens, social media and warning apps.
“Cell Broadcast is also being tested again, a relatively new warning system that sends the warning message directly to the mobile device,” explains the district office.
There is no need to install a special app.
App NINA recommended: No warning from sirens in the Miesbach district
The lower disaster control authority at the Miesbach district office asks all citizens to download the federal government's free warning app NINA and activate the notifications in the app.
“All disaster control authorities, from the district office to the federal government, have access to this app and can quickly warn in an emergency,” the district office makes clear.
This is particularly important in the Miesbach district, as there have been no civil defense or civil protection sirens in the district since the Cold War.
The aim of the nationwide warning day is to provide information about the topic of warnings in an emergency.
“This is intended to increase the population’s ability to protect themselves,” it continues.
“We ask citizens to inform their neighbors about the nationwide warning day.”
