At the request of the merchants of La Guillotière, the Lyon town hall suspended work in the district begun five months ago during Ramadan.
Each evening of the religious festival, which began this year on March 11 (Monday) in France, a “Ramadan market” is set up on Rue Paul-Bert and Place Bahadourian for the breaking of the fast.

“At La Guillotière we took a pragmatic decision which responds to a request from all traders.
The developments on rue Paul-Bert are suspended during the Ramadan market, because this market is held in direct proximity to works and generates significant pedestrian traffic.
Pursuing them would therefore endanger the safety of residents and passers-by
,” assured the mayor of Lyon to justify his decision.
