Rhône: passengers on a Lyon-Roanne train stranded for nearly six hours due to an electrical failure

The first slowdowns were observed around 10 a.m., a passenger on a TER departing from Lyon told BFMTV.

At 11:15 a.m., account X of the TER in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region announced a complete interruption of traffic.

A train was affected by an electrical failure near the town of Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or.

But traffic does not resume and the delay accumulates for users of the line.

Around noon, the SNCF announced that traffic would not resume until at least 2:30 p.m. and that coaches had been ordered to ensure the journeys.

Traffic still interrupted Tuesday

According to Jérôme, interviewed by BFMTV, the bus drivers who came to pick up the passengers told them that they would not go to Roanne but would return to the departure station, Lyon Part-Dieu.

TER passengers were informed around 4 p.m. that they were going to be taken to their initial destination by taxis.

In total, they will have spent nearly six hours stuck in their TER.

Rail traffic gradually resumed shortly after 5 p.m.

But other disruptions took place on Tuesday.

Traffic between Roanne and Lyon was once again interrupted, this time between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
