After introducing the ability to write long posts for subscribers to the Premium subscription service, social media X doesn't stop.
The former Twitter, led by owner Elon Musk, would be about to launch an application dedicated to video streaming for some smart TV models, the connected televisions.
The indiscretion comes from the Fortune website even if Musk himself confirmed the news, taking up a user's post on the social network.
"Coming soon" are the words of the tycoon, who thus puts himself in direct competition with platforms such as YouTube for the viewing of multimedia content.
The app in question, expected within the week on Samsung-branded smart TVs and for Amazon's Fire Stick, the stick that when attached to the television transforms it into a device connected to the internet, is the natural consequence of Musk's goal of transforming X into something more than a social network.
In the past, Twitter had already made some apps available for smart TVs, dedicated only to reading posts, basically software that replicated a normal web page on the site.
In 2016, the company launched an application for Amazon Fire TV, Xbox One and Apple TV that allowed you to follow NFL games, only in the United States.
Like other social networks, X allows you to upload very long videos online, up to 3 hours in high definition.
The pre-requisite is to have a Premium subscription, to go beyond sharing videos of up to 140 seconds for everyone.
It remains to be seen whether the smart TV app will also be open to users who use X for free or whether it will be an exclusive service for paying users.
