Spending by foreign tourists in Italygrew by 17% in 2023 over the previous year, the Bank of Italysaid on Tuesday.
The increase in tourism revenue is due largely to the growth in arrivals, particularly from outside the EU, the central bank added.
Italy's balance of payments in tourism recorded a surplus of 20.2 billion euro, up from 18.2 billion euro in 2022.
As a percentage of GDP, the surplus rose to 1%, the same as in 2019 before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
