The 'Foggia women 1987' football team won the Italian cup of female excellence, a football team that has returned to play since June 2023, after 37 years of absence, thanks to the passion of a group of girls and the will of a manager "with the spirit of Don Quixote ".

But the joy of winning the trophy and consequent access to the national stage risks being canceled out by the fear of closing its doors immediately.

Alfredo Troisi, manager responsible for communications and inspirer of the rebirth of the women's football movement in Foggia, highlights that the team is moving forward "thanks to the contribution of a few sponsors and the fact that the technical staff do not receive emoluments just as the players, girls aged 18 to 47, do not receive them. Many of them have found in sport an outlet for the difficulties that some of them have been experiencing for some time."

The manager explains that the team does not have a field on which to train and does so on that of a school - unsuitable for 11-a-side football - which entails a cost of 800 euros per month for the club.

Not to mention the challenges of the home championship: "We were forced to wander around the fields of the province due to the absence of structures in Foggia, a traditional problem of our city - says the manager -. To play away matches we have to rent a means of transport which costs us between 500 and 600 euros per match."

For Troisi, "what can be renamed as a real social phenomenon, in a rather complex land like the province of Foggia, risks dissolving like snow if the silence continues from the institutions. I appeal to them so that this beautiful reality does not disappear in absolute silence".
