For several weeks, the presenter of “Envoyé Spécial” has seen her image used without her knowledge to promote fraudulent sites.

It may not have escaped your attention, articles about Élise Lucet have multiplied on X recently.

If the face of one of the French's favorite presenters is omnipresent on the web, it is because ill-intentioned people offer fraudulent content using her profile in order to defraud the most naive Internet users.

These cybercriminals promote cryptocurrency sites by using the visuals of famous news sites, mainly Le Monde, and by featuring the journalist with a very catchy and obviously misleading title.

Fake titles and photoshopped visuals

“Élise Lucet said goodbye to her ordinary life”, “Élise Lucet's presentation last night ended in tragedy”… so many false headlines accompanied by photoshopped visuals - where we sometimes see the journalist with her face bloated - and shared by paid accounts of the social network

Some “deep fakes” also feature the journalist’s comments in false videos generated by artificial intelligence.

Last week, faced with the scale of these scams, Élise Lucet spoke publicly on X to denounce “a coordinated campaign of malicious posts” some of which “refer to fraudulent sites”.

According to BFM, these advertisements, which were created between March 5 and 6, target men over 35 and have been viewed more than 400,000 times in France.

Faced with this situation, Élise Lucet confirmed to franceinfo that France Télévisions had decided to file a complaint against X for cyberstalking, fraudulent editing of photos, identity theft.

Le Monde also plans to file a complaint, according to the public media.

“Is it because of the investigations we are carrying out at

Envoyé Spécial

or at

 ?

», asks the journalist.

“Difficult to establish.

But it’s true that we are currently working on this type of subject,” she concedes.

This is not the first time that personalities, often appreciated by the French, have seen their image used for fraudulent purposes.

Last January, Le Parisien informed you of this same type of scam with computer hackers using the image of Ève Gilles, then newly elected Miss France, as well as Virginie Efira.
