After the first episode of the 17th season of “Let's Dance” was broadcast on RTL on Friday, fans online initially only know one topic: the new TV studio.
Opinions are divided.
Cologne - After the introductory show of the new season of “Let's Dance” on February 23, 2024, viewers are not yet sure what to think of the renovation of the RTL studio.
Some fans of the format were initially disappointed.
New “Let’s Dance” studio divides fans
When the moderators Daniel Hartwich (45) and Victoria Swarovski (30) opened the floor with their introduction, it was immediately clear to the loyal fans in front of the screen: Something is different.
This wasn't due to the jurors' usual crazy outfits - Jorge González (56) with a punky spiky hairstyle or Motsi Mabuse (42) with white-blond hair.
Even the glitch when the phone numbers of the “Let's Dance” candidates were displayed became irrelevant.
The studio was in the interest of fans online: the redesign did not meet the taste of all viewers.
While some people didn't even notice the changes, users on the messaging service X
(formerly Twitter) commented on
the new colors as "taking getting used to".
Attentive members posted: “Where did the show stairs go?” or “I still don’t know if I like this new gold jury stand.
The red stood out more.”
Another user even calls it “horrible.”
“Let’s Dance” producer: “We don’t break habits”
The conversion is no surprise.
Immediately after the end of season 16, work on the Cologne studio was announced.
As the responsible executive producer Stefanie Frebel told the media portal

, some of the studio elements came from the early days, so they are almost 20 years old and “getting old”.
The chandeliers under the ceiling were replaced with new LED installations.
Everything is subtly reminiscent of an Art Deco style.
New technology enables new productions.
Dances could be implemented in even more variety using variable stairs.
But: The jury box is still where it always was, just in a different color.
The dance floor is just as big as before and the candidates dance through the entrance gate into the hall as usual.

The concept has proven itself since 2006 and makes the show RTL's driving force.
In 2023, the format even won the German Television Award for Best Entertainment in Directing.
“Let's Dance” is produced by RTL on behalf of the British broadcaster BBC.
The current season 17 of “Let's Dance” features actor Mark Keller (58), among others.
