Accidents happen again and again in the mountains.
The Lenggries and Bad Tölz mountain rescue teams were now practicing together with colleagues from Austria in the event of an emergency.
Lenggries – Serious or fatal accidents occur again and again in the mountains.
Ski tourers died in the Swiss Alps at the weekend.
The mountain rescue services in the Tölzer Land are also preparing for difficult operations like this.
A cross-border operational exercise took place on Saturday in the middle of the Schönalmjoch in Hinterriß, a popular area for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers.
Mountain rescue service: Around 70 members practice “realistic operational scenarios”
According to a statement, the Lenggries and Bad Tölz mountain rescue services as well as the Achenkirch and Maurach mountain rescue services from Austria were involved.
A total of around 70 members practiced a “realistic operational scenario with two avalanches, which was worked through in two groups,” writes the Lenggrieser Mountain Rescue Service.

Helicopters from the Bavarian State Police and the Austrian Ministry of the Interior flew the emergency services to the fictitious scene of the accident.
“The mountain rescue officers located, probed and excavated a total of eight buried people using avalanche search devices.” Two avalanche search dogs and a team of eight mountain rescue emergency doctors were also on duty.

The exercise should actually have taken place at Schafreuter
The exercise was originally supposed to have taken place on Schafreuter, but the nature conservation authorities did not grant permission for it.
“This sometimes led to a lack of understanding among the mountain rescuers and increased the organizational effort of the operational exercise.”

Nevertheless, the mountain guards draw a positive conclusion: “Thanks to the excellent cooperation, the scenarios were successfully completed and some important food for thought was taken away for the future.”
