It was an integral part of Hansa Park for over 30 years, but now it has to go: Despite its great popularity, the Holstein Tower will be demolished this year.

Sierksdorf – Since 1987, the Holstein Tower has risen 100 meters above the Hansa Park site in Schleswig-Holstein.

After more than 37 years, this will soon be over.

The popular attraction at the amusement park in Sierksdorf has to cease operations for the long term before the season starts again on March 28th.

Hansa-Park explained this in its newsletter.

Hansa-Park has to part with Holsteinturm with a heavy heart

The Holstein Tower is scheduled to be dismantled in 2024.

The operators explain: “After a lengthy and very intensive coordination process with internal and external technicians, our supplier and other experts, it is clear: it will no longer be able to drive and we will have to dismantle it at the end of the 2024 season.”

The end of the Holstein Tower probably doesn't come as a complete surprise.

The viewing platform has been closed to visitors for more than two years; the last public trip took place in 2022.

According to reports from the

Lübecker Nachrichten,

the operators tried to operate the ride again in 2023, but test runs were unsuccessful.

The reason for this is, among other things, a lack of spare parts.

In the Europa Park, however, two destroyed attractions were recently rebuilt.

“Knowledge of the emotional connection”: No turning back for the Holstein Tower in Hansa Park

The decision was not an easy decision for the operators of the Hansa Park: “We know about the emotional connection that our guests, but also we as the Hansa Park family, have with it,” it says in a newsletter.

However, those responsible are already promising new attractions and declare that the tower would make room for “something new and great”.

However, there are no precise plans for this yet.

Fans of the theme park are still disappointed.

On

kirmesforum.de

a user explains: “Built in 1987, it was an iconic ride.

“It was a visual highlight in many pictures.”

Another writes: “This one, with the view over the sea, actually needs to be replaced.

“Not everyone freefalls for a great view.”

One user thinks: “It's a shame, the tower was just great, especially by the sea.

Unfortunately another HUSS classic that is leaving us, but of course also making room for something new.”
