It was the ceremonial conclusion of their apprenticeship: 111 craftsmen from seven different disciplines received their journeyman's certificates in the Peißenberg deep tunnel hall.

Frank Zellner also thought so: “They are true experts in their field,” said Peißenberg’s mayor.

At the forefront of the competition

“They are at the forefront of the competition for future jobs and study places,” said Knut Seelos, headmaster of the Weilheim vocational school, predicting a rosy future for the journeymen.

The saying that craftsmanship has golden soil is still valid.

“The call for good craftsmen has never been as loud as it is today,” asserted Seelos.

He encouraged the young people to face the ever-increasing responsibilities in their professional lives and to develop professionally.

Seelos emphasized that technology was advancing rapidly and saw this as a clear advantage: “This ensures that the job doesn’t become boring.”

“You can be proud,” said Franz Xaver Peteranderl, President of the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria, who came to Peißenberg especially for the “most beautiful and important custom” of the craft.

He welcomed the journeymen “to the team of craftsmen” and appreciated the fact that they had mastered the difficult training conditions with a lot of hard work and hard work during the Corona years and had developed into sought-after specialists.

“The career opportunities in the skilled trades are excellent,” emphasized Peteranderl and promoted support options such as master BAföG, master bonus and support for talented people.

A break was granted

District master craftsman Michael Andrä gave the young craftsmen a break.

“You can forgo learning for a few weeks,” he joked, but he also looked to the future: “You will be surprised with new challenges every day,” said the master carpenter, speaking from experience and advising the young craftsmen to find meaning in their daily lives To see what has been achieved.
