It was a funny scene that took place last Thursday in Magnanville (Yvelines).
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., the police commissioner of Mantes-la-Jolie went in person to town hall to post an official document.
Mayor Michel Lebouc (DVG) having refused to expose it, he was first put on notice by the Yvelines prefecture.
Faced with his obstinacy, the prefect then took the place of the elected official by dispatching the national police.
“This is obviously not on the agenda, but be careful, the law provides for a suspension or even a dismissal of the mayor in the event of behavior of this type,” warns a source close to the matter.
This clearly sensitive document is the “declaration of intent” relating to the construction of the Magnanville prison, in a town of 6,000 inhabitants near Mantes-la-Jolie.
It confirms, to the great dismay of Michel Lebouc and his constituents, the construction of this penitentiary establishment by 2028 by the Ministry of Justice.
