A Caretta caretta turtle died after being rescued in Gonnesa and a dolphin beached in Arborea.
Busy day for the staff at Cres, the Sinis sea turtle recovery centre.
The first intervention took place in Gonnesa where the Port Authority recovered a Caretta caretta turtle in difficulty on the beach.
The specimen was delivered to the staff of the Nora lagoon and then entrusted to the Cres experts.
The turtle was taken to the veterinary clinic to be examined and treated.
Unfortunately, too much time spent in the cold outside the water and probable lung problems caused his death.
An analysis of the animal's carcass was ordered at the zooprophylactic institute to ascertain the causes of death and to verify the presence of plastic or foreign bodies in the stomach.
Cres technicians also had to intervene in Arborea to find the carcass of a dolphin.
The cetacean specimen had washed up near road 18 and was in an advanced state of decomposition.
The causes of the dolphin's death are not known at the moment: it was an adult specimen approximately two meters long.
