Taufkirchen - Christa Manschek, long-time chairwoman of the Erding animal protection association, is celebrating her 80th birthday today and can look back on a life with a lot of commitment.

Moosen - For 23 years, from 1992 to 2015, Christa Manschek was the chairwoman of the animal protection association in the Erding district, did significant development work, was actively involved on many levels and is now an honorary member.

Today she celebrates her 80th birthday.

Manschek's biggest dream became reality in 2013 when the animal shelter opened in Kirchasch.

Until this happened, a lot of persuasion had to be done and intensive discussions had to be held with local politicians.

With tireless persuasion, she also initiated the introduction of the found animal allowance.

Even within our own ranks, mediation work had to be done.

“Animal rights activists are a special people,” says companion Gabi Eibl, recalling an oft-heard Manschek quote.

The celebratory woman put her heart and soul into helping animals of all kinds.

She took abused, injured and abandoned animals into her care.

She still looks after a nursing station for dogs today.

Animal protection commitment was accompanied by conflicts, especially in the early days.

But Christa Manschek courageously withstood the headwind, faced the challenges and did not let herself be defeated.

Educating people and maintaining dialogue were always important to her.

This applies not least to the difficult task of counteracting cat misery through targeted castrations.

“She never gave up,” says treasurer Marlene Meier, appreciative of Manschek’s perseverance.

The birthday child is a big dog lover.

In her house in Moosen she lives with a few four-legged friends.

It used to be a real, small pack that found a new home in the spacious home.

The graduate in political science settled there with her husband Ekkehard, who has since died, over 30 years ago and together with him they created an animal and natural paradise.

The idyllic and impressive pond is populated with numerous turtles.

To this day, Christa Manschek supports animal protection work with generous donations.

The club also benefits from their extensive knowledge.

The active senior citizen is involved on a voluntary basis with both the animal protection association in the Erding district and the one in Munich.

The animal rights activist also has a big heart for people who need support.

“She is socially committed, including with donations,” says Meier.

Together with other activists, Manschek repeatedly visited retirement homes with animal companions to give joy and care.

In 2012, Manschek received the decoration of honor from then Prime Minister Horst Seehofer for her volunteer work.

The community of Taufkirchen recognized her animal protection work with an honor.

Art and culture are another area that Christa Manschek devotes herself to.

She has a close friendship with Wiebke Kleinschmidt from Hofkunst Loipfing.

Socializing also has its place.

Turned to life, she enjoys a good glass of red wine with friends and the animal protection team is also often invited.

Christa Manschek mastered a lot with optimism, infectious laughter, temperament and fine humor, say her companions and congratulate the young-at-heart 80-year-old.

Congratulations!
