Mas Reig is an emblematic white building in the heights of Banyuls-sur-Mer, overlooking the bay.
There were fourteen trainees who passed through the doors to settle in on Monday March 4 in the morning in the training rooms of the Banyuls Campus, a variation on the Côte Vermeille of the Regional Institute of Sommellerie also located in Thuir.
This first short training course, one day, brought together professionals who came to complete their knowledge of the Collioure Banyuls appellation.
“The whole purpose of this campus is to participate in an upscaling of local products by amplifying their notoriety,” explains Arnaud Heckmann, educational manager of the Campus.
“These short training courses should make it possible to standardize the discourse held by prescribers throughout the Cru Banyuls regarding the wines produced there” he continues “we also organize training courses for companies, for example to train before he summer of seasonal catering to the particularities of this region.

Long training soon
These short training courses will be supplemented at the start of the school year by a long, qualifying training course set up in collaboration with GRETA and the Lycée Bourquin d'Argelès, with an additional “sommellerie” mention.
“This will allow us to try to mix audiences, to have in the same course people undergoing retraining and others, younger, in initial training.

With the opening of the Campus, the renovation of Mas Reig, supported by the community of municipalities for 2 million euros, is coming to an end.
All that remains is the last stone of the building, the finalization of the reception and museum space intended to reveal to passing tourists all the secrets of the region.
Or almost.
Opening planned for the next summer season.
