The

construction of the President Néstor Kirchner Gasduct,

carried out in 2023

,

was an enormous challenge for the companies and professionals who were involved.

The work, designed to

transform Argentina's energy matrix

and bring Vaca Muerta gas to consumption areas, was completed in

record time

.

In order to gain an in-depth understanding of the people and processes behind this important project, a

documentary was filmed that is now available on YouTube

The making of the medium-length film spanned a total of 49 days of filming, with trips included, which generated 70 hours of filmed material.

From that record, the final work was created, which shows the enormous task that the gas pipeline involved.

The idea of the film was to record all the key milestones in the project, and to do so, different logistical and coordination challenges had to be overcome.

The objective was to

focus on some highly complex situations

, such as the production of tubes at the Tenaris plant in Valentín Alsina, the directed crossing of the Colorado River, or the union of the two sections of the work, among others.

Precisely, the directed crossing of the Colorado River was one of the most important and complex moments of the project carried out by Techint Engineering and Construction, together with Sacde.

An 11-hour maneuver that allowed the gas pipeline to be joined below the water channel without affecting the river, which is essential for the region.

This was achieved using 8 pipelayers and 3 excavators to position and guide the column.

And approximately 600 m3 of water had to be pumped at 2,000 liters/minute into it, to control its flotation in the bentonite mud that filled the borehole.

These are some of the scenes that were recorded in the documentary, so that viewers can see and understand the magnitude of the work.

In addition, the Techint Group scheduled the screening of the documentary within the framework of film festivals in the communities (San Nicolás and Campana), in different universities (UBA, ITBA, UNLP, UADE, Universidad del Comahue in Neuquén, Universidad del Sur in Bahía Blanca), at the Roberto Rocca Technical School and in other technical secondary institutes in Argentina.

More than 4,000 people and about 1,000 SMEs from all over the country were involved in the work

A record work

The gas pipeline was built in a

record time of 10 months

, while a work of this nature generally takes 24 months.

More than 4 thousand people

were involved in the development, which included the participation of approximately

1,000 SMEs from all over the country

.

573 kilometers of work were carried out and more than 12 thousand trucks were dispatched, with an average of 2,000 trucks per month, which at the peak of demand reached 161 trucks per day (which is equivalent to 1 truck every 10 minutes).

The gas pipeline was built in a record time of 10 months

The gas pipeline crosses Neuquén, Río Negro, La Pampa, Buenos Aires and Santa Fe. It is the first trunk gas pipeline built in Argentina in 40 years.

To have an idea of the effort that the work required, it is estimated that the total hours worked were 4.6 million.

Added to this are the training hours, which were more than 48 thousand.

For logistics, more than 12 million kilometers were traveled.

"GPNK El Camino del Gas" is the title of the film that records the construction of the GPNK

To meet the necessary workforce, more than 450 new collaborators were hired for the project, many of them young people from the area.

The entrants were provided with more than 130,500 total hours of training, an average of 342 hours per operator.

Without a doubt, it was necessary to record all this work in images so that as many people as possible can know the enormous work that was done.

Today the documentary is a reality and is accessible to everyone
