Against the background of the war and the security situation, the Friendship Fund will in the coming months place 123 shields at transportation stations in the north that have not been protected so far.
The cost of the project is over NIS 6.7 million.
The project is being carried out in full coordination with the Home Front Command both in terms of the protection gaps and the type of protection and the priorities for their placement.
The move was made at the request of the authorities in the area.
Until now, the students in the schools in the area were only protected at home and at school, but not on their way to or from the frameworks.
The shields will be placed in 42 settlements located up to 9 km from the border. These are the councils where the shields will be placed: the regional councils of Ma'ale Yosef, Meta Asher, Upper Galilee, Marom Galilee, the entrances to the Hermon and Gush Halab, as well as in Nahariya, Ma'alot Tarshiha, Kfar Vardim, Mailia, Pesuta, Khorfish and Yanouch J. The shields that will be placed are standard and accessible according to the requirements of the Home Front Command and can defend themselves in them up to 15 people.

The president of the Friendship Foundation, Yael Ekstein: "Since the beginning of the war, the Friendship Foundation has been working to strengthen security and the feeling of security, which have undergone a major shock since October. The planned placement of the shields joins a series of moves and initiatives that I am proud that the foundation and its people are leading, and their entire purpose is to save lives when needed. Strengthening security And the feeling of security are two central values in our activity, which are made possible thanks to our donors."
