Globes Shaarim - Where is Bibi/Globes?
Last week, the day after the publication of the harsh conclusions of the Miron disaster report, which placed personal responsibility on Prime Minister Netanyahu, as well as on the former Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana and the Commissioner of Police, a comprehensive and amorphous definition of the report's subjects appeared in Globes, which was named on the cover of the newspaper duo "Tzmirat al-Madinah"
. The words "Prime Minister" did appear in the subtitle. But the explicit name Netanyahu was absent, even though the names of Amir Ohana and Kobi Shabtai decided to be printed in the economic newspaper, which often covers what is happening in the political arena - especially since the start of the war, about five months ago.
For those who religiously follow This is no stranger to what has been happening in the economic press arena in recent years, and the impression one gets is that in the name of "neutrality", the newspaper is taking a definite direction, we will call it here "pro-Netanyahu". Correspondingly, the Prime Minister even tends to share articles from the newspaper on his Twitter account from time to time. With the war , the direction is also clearly expressed in another significant factor, especially in the print - the gates.

Netanyahu in Calcalist and De Marker, "Top of the State" in Globes/Serika
From checking and voila!
Browsing the covers of economic newspapers in the 157 days that have passed since 10/7, it appears that a photo or illustration of Prime Minister Netanyahu appeared only five times on the cover of the Globes newspaper.
Thus, in the first three months of the war - only one (!) photo of Netanyahu was placed on the cover of the newspaper (on 10/18), and even then it appeared in a positive context - when Netanyahu hugs Biden who visited Israel for a sympathy visit next to the headline: "What Israel can do With an aid check of NIS 10 billion".
In addition, the explicit name "Netanyahu" appeared only once in the main title (on 11/10).
The context: forming a unity government with Gantz.
On 1.11 - almost two months after the massacre, the newspaper published an original cover with many names, titles, government offices, security officials and more under the heading
"But who is responsible"
- each name was written in a different size, some of them were even underlined.
"Prime Minister's Office", without the explicit name Benjamin Netanyahu, appeared in it in small on the lower right side.
In January, Netanyahu appeared twice on the cover - once in a medium-small illustration on the right side of the main headline, with Smotrich standing on the other side.
The context: neutral - since the headline points an accusing finger at Smotrich: "The Treasury insists on raising the VAT". A week later, Netanyahu appeared again, this time with Smotrich and Ben-Gvir in a triangular illustration at the bottom of the page. The context this time is both neutral and common to everyone: "The deals are on the way to approving the budget."

The question arises as to whether an economic newspaper should at all deal with issues such as the war or the politics behind the war and the events of October 7.
Because, if the answer is "no" - why even deal with the Prime Minister's visibility in the covers of an economic newspaper.
Globes himself answers this question: during the last five months he has been intensively dealing with the military, strategic, geopolitical, diplomatic as well as economic aspects of the war.
This, including large cover photos of Gaza, the Gaza Strip, maps, and even a huge illustration of the head of Aman Haliva once. A
second answer to this issue emerges from a study of Globes' direct competitors - the economics newspapers De Marker and Calcalist. From checking Walla! Branche It appears that since 10/7, Netanyahu has appeared in the newspaper De Marker in 27 photos in the newspaper's main headline or in references from the cover. In addition, his name has appeared in references to 16 commentaries without photos, as well as in two more main headlines without a photo.
Calcalist, the leading newspaper in exposure among The economic newspapers are also considered the most hostile to Netanyahu. The examination shows that Netanyahu's picture, usually alone, has appeared 33 times on the newspaper's cover since the beginning of the war, usually in the center of the cover and in some cases alongside commentary. In the absolute majority of cases the context was critical or negative.

As mentioned, Calcalist and DeMarker have quite distinctly anti-Netanyahu positions in recent years and especially since the legal revolution entered our lives, and Globes, as mentioned, holds the opposite position or at least "neutral" or "balanced" as they like to say in the newspaper's corridors in the spirit of today's language.
It is completely legitimate for the newspaper to have one editorial line or another, and the buyer will buy or not buy the goods.
their right
At the same time, it is hard not to wonder if there is anyone in Israel who imagines an Israeli newspaper, any Israeli newspaper, that would not have published on the 19 days of the Yom Kippur War in October 1973 or the five months after that, the picture of Golda Meir, the Prime Minister in office at the time of the greatest omission that happened until then.
