The rethinking of supply chains with a view to resilience and promotion of open, free and multilateral trade;

the role of public stimuli in supporting the G7 economies and greater collaboration between G7 countries on digital investments and AI are the main priorities that will have to be addressed by the G7 ministerial meeting on Industry, Technology and Digital led by Adolfo Urso which will be held on 14 and 15 March in Verona and Trento and which were made clear by the B7 Flash, an in-depth analysis carried out by Confindustria and Deloitte and presented today by the B7 forum underway in Verona at the Confindustria headquarters.

The global manufacturing sector reached a value of 16.2 trillion dollars in 2022, with an increase in global value added of 3.6% (2024-2028) and an average weight of approximately 16% on world GDP.

A critical factor that is increasingly impacting the manufacturing sector is digitalisation: in 2022 in Europe (including the UK) 69% of manufacturing companies have adopted advanced digital technologies in production, with the data highlighting how in 2023 the most digitally mature companies they recorded an EBIT 6% higher than the less mature ones.

Numbers to which must be added, in the last year, the forceful arrival in the Artificial Intelligence market, which could reach 373 billion dollars in 2024 and 946 billion dollars by 2030. “Digitization is fundamental for all sectors industrial, both in the private and public sectors: as B7 we will work to promote digital skills beyond the boundaries of companies and also reach public administrations, in order to strengthen the security of access to data and provide companies and citizens with services more efficient and safer” is how Emma Marcegaglia, B7 Chair, explains the challenges that the Ministerial meeting on “Industry, Technology and Digital of the G7” scheduled for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will have to face in Verona and Trento.

“Digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence have revolutionary potential and an unprecedented speed of evolution which, if properly addressed, will allow us to increase productivity and competitiveness in all sectors, while promoting more inclusive growth.

To fully seize the opportunities of this revolution and assume a position of global leadership, it is necessary for businesses and institutions to work closely together, accompanying the G7 in the radical change underway" declared Fabio Pompei, CEO of Deloitte Italia, the sole Knowledge Partner of Confindustria for the B7, on the sidelines of the forum where the B7 Flash was presented.
