By supporting refugees, a CDU district administrator in Saxony-Anhalt has probably made himself unpopular in right-wing extremist circles.

The AfD is apparently planning an attempt at intimidation.

Naumburg/Saxony-Anhalt – CDU MP Götz Ulrich has been district administrator in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt since 2014 and, among other things, is committed to helping refugees in his constituency.

That seems to be reason enough for the AfD Saxony-Anhalt to pay a home visit to the CDU politician under the motto “Stop the great raid!”

As

Spiegel

reports, Götz informed the Naumburg district council of this.

The regional association of the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany is planning a rally in the CDU MP's home town that will lead past his house.

The detour past the CDU politician's home could hardly have been chosen by chance.

Götz sees the choice of route as an attempt at intimidation.

On stand up for.”

AfD rally in front of the district administrator's house in Saxony-Anhalt: there was already intimidation beforehand

In November 2023, the AfD Saxony-Anhalt was the second state association of the party after Thuringia to be classified as proven right-wing extremist by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

And one of those who registered for the rally, Hans-Thomas Tillschneider, is considered a right-wing extremist and is being monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, reports

Spiegel

.

As early as 2015, District Administrator Götz Ulrich was met with massive hostility because of a planned accommodation for refugees and, according to his own statements, received death threats.

The house where the 40 refugees were supposed to live was later set on fire.

The then incumbent mayor, Markus Nierth, had previously resigned after coming under pressure from right-wing extremists.

At that time, a demonstration organized by NPD officials was approved, which - similar to the Götz case - passed Nierth's house.

A time that Götz referred to with a view to the planned AfD rally.

“We all know where such instruments of intimidation, repression and threats can lead,” Ulrich said in the district council, according to

.

Just a month ago, Ulrich demonstrated against right-wing extremist forces in Germany in the Burgenland district under the motto “Never again is now”.

AfD demo: Solidarity with the CDU district administrator also from the FDP, Greens and SPD

At the state political level in Saxony-Anhalt there was cross-party criticism of the planned demonstration.

Cornelia Lüddemann, parliamentary group leader of Alliance 90/The Greens, told

MDR Saxony-Anhalt

: “Such a demo route should not be approved.” And members of the SPD and FDP are also said to have sided with the CDU man with statements .

In the future, members of the Bavarian state parliament will face fines of up to 4,000 euros if they do not behave.

This is mainly thanks to the provocations of the AfD.
