Denmark announced on Wednesday March 13 to increase its defense spending by 5.43 billion euros over the next five years by investing in strengthening its military capabilities, extending conscription and additional support for Ukraine.

“The government plans to increase defense spending by a total of 40.5 billion crowns between 2024 and 2028
,” the Defense Ministry wrote in a statement.
With this increase, Denmark will devote more than 2% of its GDP to defense in 2024, said Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
