Featherweight denies having gone to rehab on the cover of Rolling Stone: it is the most recent rumor in a long list

2024-03-13T00:02:22.055Z

Highlights: Mexican singer Peso Pluma has been the subject of a long list of rumors. The 24-year-old has been recording his new album in a studio in California. His career has been marked by conspiracy theories, ranging from the identity of his father, to the animated series My little ponny. His mother has cleared up doubts about her son's identity, saying he is the son of the actress Adela Noriega and the former Mexican president Carlos Salinas de Gortari.

The lives of artists today seem to be open to the public, but that is not the case of the singer Peso Pluma: the secrecy he has maintained around his privacy and his family has given way to a career marked by controversy and theories of The conspiracy.

After weeks of speculation about his supposed entry into a rehabilitation clinic, shortly after canceling his participation in the 2024 edition of the Viña del Mar Festival, the Mexican singer Peso Pluma finally clarified some of the rumors around his life.

In an interview for the cover of Rolling Stone, the artist explained that he has been recording his new album in a studio in California.

“The last few weeks have been really crazy,” the artist told the magazine.

“People will always have something to say about what I'm doing and create their own narrative.

But

the reality is that all these days I have been in the studio working on

Exodus

.”

The article claims that “[Peso Pluma] is already thinking about

Exodus

as a more direct response to the negative press that seems to surround him.

[In Genesis] people already saw the good side, the superhero side.

But I think this year they will know a darker side.”

For those who don't know it, Featherweight has become the greatest exponent of lying bullfights.

However, unlike his predecessors, the 24-year-old artist swapped the cowboy boots and hats for a

look

more in tune with hiphop: baseball caps, chains and jewelry.

The rumors about his supposed rehabilitation, which circulated with millions of views on social networks, and were even replicated by some Mexican media, have been the most recent chapter in a trajectory marked by conspiracy theories, ranging from the identity of his father, to the animated series

My little ponny

.

What happened to Viña del Mar?

The organization of the prestigious Viña del Mar music festival reported through a statement on social networks that Peso Pluma canceled its attendance at the event, which took place from February 25 to March 1.

He was scheduled to give a concert on the closing night.

The announcement came in January 2024 after weeks of controversy in Chile over the participation of the Mexican artist in the event, after a sociologist and academic from the University of Chile

argued that the star promotes drug culture.

On the same dates, the Argentine urban music singer Nicki Nicole revealed on February 13 on her social networks that she ended her relationship with Peso Pluma.

The singer did not want to address the issue or tell any details of her breakup.

His ties with the state of Sinaloa

As his fame grows, more stories seem to emerge about his life, due in part to how little — or nothing — the artist himself has said about his family, and in particular, about his father.

Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, known as Peso Pluma, was born in 1999 in Zapopan, Jalisco, and bears the first name of his father, who Mexican media identifies as Hassan Kabande Toledo.

This, added to his ties to the state of Sinaloa – where his mother is from – has led some users on social networks to propose without evidence that the young artist is the son of the famous regional music singer, Valentín Elizalde.

Some even describe the so-called Double P as "the reincarnation of the previous one."

And for many, Peso Pluma has a huge resemblance to

El Gallo de Oro

, as Elizalde was known, who was murdered after a concert in Tamaulipas, Mexico, in 2006.

When asked about comparisons, Peso Pluma highlighted his admiration for Elizalde and added that beyond the comparisons and perceptions that may be had, “to each their own path.

My respects to the Elizalde family, my respects to Valentín, may he rest in peace, who always was and will be one of my inspirations,” he highlighted in an interview he gave to Nelsie Carillo's YouTube channel.

Who are your parents?

Another of the baseless theories that circulate about the artist is the one that claims that he is the son of the Mexican actress Adela Noriega and the former Mexican president Carlos Salinas de Gortari.

Given the growing speculation about the identity of Peso Pluma's father, his mother Rubí Laija Díaz, cleared up doubts in December 2023 when she was asked about comparisons between her son and Elizalde.

“We just laughed obviously and it's good that they compare him to him, because he liked him a lot, he liked all the people a lot,” she said in an interview with Despierta América, on Univisión.

Peso Pluma has become the most viewed artist of the year on YouTube in 2023 and leads the Billboard charts.

Why do they relate it to

My little pony?

The mysticism that seems to surround the artist from Guadalajara (as the people of the Mexican state of Jalisco are known) has come to cross the artist's origins with the animated series

My

Little Pony

.

The animated series that emerged in the 80s does not feature

Featherweight

until 2013, according to Infobae, seven years before the corridos tumbados artist's first songs began appearing on Spotify.

According to theories on TikTok, the children's program “predicted” Featherweight.

A preschool-age pegasus named

Featherweight

appears in the series , whose literal translation into Spanish is featherweight.

The curious thing is that the character's haircut resembles that of the artist in real life.
