A large number of people stood in a huge queue in the middle of Munich at the end of February.
But: what were people waiting for?

Numerous people queuing in downtown Munich in the evening.
In the end, the reason is not one that you immediately come to.
Munich – When do many people in Munich line up for something?
Many reasons come to mind straight away.
Before a concert by US megastar Taylor Swift, for example.
Or the release of the latest Apple product at Marienplatz.
Also a classic: the Oktoberfest tapping.
Maybe it's the opening of a new club or there is free beer.
At the end of February, a video made the rounds on social media showing numerous people in a queue in the middle of Munich.
But none of them are due to any of the reasons mentioned above - these are not even remotely true.
Huge crowds in Munich - the reason is banal, but you can't figure it out
The video was posted on Instagram by gong96.3 on February 29th, and according to the credit, it originally came from the TikTok account “@beweggrund”.
It shows a gigantic queue of people in downtown Munich.
The description says: “It almost looks as if there is free beer here: that’s how long the queue was at Regerplatz.” However, beer is not the reason for the rush – it’s a school event.

Apparently extremely popular high school: the crowd formed in front of a school
In fact, people were queuing in front of a Munich high school, as gong96.3 also reports: “In the Maria-Theresia-Gymnasium in der Au there was an information evening for the new 5th graders and this time with a school tour, which is why there were a lot of kids there.
And some of them were there an hour earlier, which is why the line is so long.”
In the comments, users get carried away with jokes.
One that is quite obvious is a comparison with the dramatic Munich housing market: “Apartment inspection for an apartment that is advertised for 50 euros below the rent index,” wrote one user.
Another user wrote: “Ohoh... our son is now in the 10th grade there and is totally happy there.
We live about 600 m away.
That’s why the space worked out… but there wasn’t that much of a crowd at the information evening back then.”
