The judge overseeing the election interference case in Georgia against Donald Trump and other co-defendants dismissed some of the charges the former president faced on Wednesday, although most of the charges remain.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said six of the charges in the criminal indictment must be dismissed,
including three against Trump
.
But the order leaves many others intact, and the judge wrote that prosecutors could seek a new indictment on those he dismissed.
The six charges in question involve asking elected officials to violate their oath of office when they took office.
That includes two charges related to the phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, also a Republican, on January 2, 2021, where he pressured him to change the votes he needed to win the state in 2020. Trump has denied any crime.
