Active for more than 15 years, the association Convergence Citoyenne Ivryenne (CCI) announced a few days ago its withdrawal from the municipal council

Four of the 49 elected officials of the Ivry-sur-Seine municipal council, including two deputies, now sit there without a label.

“A baroque situation”, for the mayor's office, which deplores the resignation of the association Convergence Citoyenne Ivryenne (CCI), which was part of the majority for more than 15 years and had invested these elected officials in 2020.

Announced in a press release a few days ago, this withdrawal is justified for one of the members of the association (who preferred to remain anonymous) by the feeling of being “drowned” in the municipal majority.

The resignation only concerns the association, and not the four elected officials wearing the CCI label.

They did not respond to our requests, or did not wish to speak in their own name on the subject.

A member of the association explains that “the link had weakened” between the positions of CCI and the municipal councilors.

“Unhealthy” functioning?

The “third citizen” refers to elected officials from the majority list who are not from the political world.

They were nominated before the vote by the citizens of their neighborhoods.

An assembly organized without minority blocs aims precisely, for Mayor Philippe Bouyssou (PCF) to “define a space for political decision-making which does not force the elected representatives of the “third citizen” to structure themselves via a homogeneous group and to position themselves according to a logic of “bloc”, an operation which would deny the diversity of commitments and opinions which characterizes, precisely, this component of the municipal majority.

Even though the CCI association assures that within the third citizen "everyone agrees with the idea that this operation is not healthy but no one dares to say it", the mayor recalls that "no one , not even a political organization of the municipal majority nor myself can

claim to speak in the name of the 14 elected representatives of the “third citizen”.

Following the resignation of CCI, the councilor began a consultation of all majority groups.

“And the meeting with the third party citizen was very rich,” slips his office.

When asked, none of the 14 elected officials wished to speak publicly in response to the association's press release.
