A motorcyclist (48) suffered serious injuries when his bike slipped on the oily, wet road at the Holzkirchen motorway entrance on Wednesday (March 13).

The entrance to Munich was closed for 45 minutes.

- The asphalt in the area of ​​the motorway entrance towards Munich was wet with rain and smeared with oil - a combination that was fatal to a 48-year-old motorcyclist early on Wednesday (March 13th).

According to the Holzkirchen Motorway Police Station (APS), the BMW driver fell and sustained serious injuries.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 9 a.m. at the Holzkirchen junction in the direction of Munich in the Valley municipality.

The 48-year-old from Wackersberg (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district) wanted to enter the motorway on his BMW coming from the B 318.

After the bridge, shortly before the start of the motorway, he went into a right-hand bend and fell.

According to police, no other road users were involved.

“The road was wet with rain and oil smeared at the time of the accident,” said the APS.

An emergency doctor attended to the injured man, who suffered several broken bones as a result of the fall.

The man from Wackersberg was taken to Agatharied Hospital for further care.

The fire brigades from Holzkirchen and Weyarn secured the accident site and contained the spilled oil.

The police estimate the damage to the motorcycle at around 10,000 euros.

The machine was recovered by a Holzkirchner towing service.

The motorway access towards Munich had to be closed for around three quarters of an hour while the accident was being recorded.

The police are looking for witnesses to the accident.
