The demand was raised at the most recent citizens' meeting in Wolfratshausen: The city council has now ordered a parking ban on a municipal road in the Waldram district.

Wolfratshausen – Many of the approximately 4,000 residents in the Waldram district have had enough for a long time.

The traffic congestion is high, the streets are narrow - and the way some people park their cars further exacerbates the overall situation.

At the citizens' meeting in the Loisachhalle in mid-December, the call for an absolute ban on stopping on both sides on Faulhaberstrasse was loud (we reported).

At its meeting on Tuesday evening, the city council commented on the application from Waldramer Dieter Klug.

Town hall boss Klaus Heilinglechner (BVW) reminded that Faulhaberstrasse was expanded in 2019.

The sidewalks were widened and the roadway narrowed.

The goal: to protect weaker road users, especially children on their way to school, and to counteract violations of the 30 km/h speed limit.

According to the mayor, the construction project also served the purpose of allowing residents to park their cars on the side of the road.

The police and city administration do not believe that stopping is necessary

In the meeting template for the councils, town hall employee Wolfgang Mucha pointed out that the police had not been able to determine during “on-site observations” that parked vehicles were causing a backlog on Faulhaberstrasse.

However, according to Mucha, an absolute ban on stopping can only be ordered “where this is absolutely necessary due to the special circumstances”.

In this specific case – on the north side of Faulhaberstrasse – this is not possible.

Mucha: “After consultation with the police, there have been no accidents on Faulhaberstrasse in recent years, which can be attributed to the currently permitted parking on the northern edge of the road.”

The rejection of the application was within reach when Waldramer Dr.

Manfred Fleischer (Wolfratshauser List) made a compromise proposal: He suggested parking disc regulations in the area of house numbers 6 to 16.

This has already proven itself on Bettingerstrasse – “at the seminar”.

Only two hours of parking time on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. would be able to rectify the situation.

Green city councilor can live well with “brake blocks” in Waldram

While Assunta Tammelleo (Greens) from Waldram approved the parked vehicles as “braking blocks” and saw no reason for a parking ban on both sides, her party colleague Hans-Georg Anders took up Fleischer’s suggestion.

In his own words, Anders has been a Waldramer since 1957 and emphasized: The expansion of Faulhaber Strasse around five years ago was “successful”.

Nevertheless, Anders advocated a ban on stopping on the northern side of the street: on weekdays during rush hour from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. - in the area of house numbers 6 to 16.

When asked by our newspaper on Wednesday, applicant Klug said: “I am very satisfied with the compromise solution.” (cce)
