A man was shot dead at his home by police officers who intervened for a dispute within his shared accommodation, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in Wattignies (North), while he was "
in crisis
" and armed with "
a butcher knife
,” a police source assured AFP.
Called around midnight, the police discovered on arriving on site “
a man in crisis, a butcher knife in his hand
”, said this source.
According to the same police source, the man remained “
threatening
” despite the use of the taser, and the police used their weapons, killing him.
The judicial police and the IGPN (the police) were contacted.
Contacted by AFP, the Lille public prosecutor's office did not respond on Wednesday morning.
