Christine and Lorenz Stiftl from Munich are the new hosts in the Weißbräu tent at the Erdinger Autumn Festival.

Erding – When the 82nd Erdinger Autumn Festival opens on August 30th, new festival hosts will welcome the guests in the Weißbräuzelt.

After two years, Patrick Schmidt is now being taken over by the Munich innkeeper couple Christine and Lorenz Stiftl.

Yesterday the new landlords were introduced at a press event at the Erdinger Weißbräu inn.

“It worked well with Patrick Schmidt,” said Weißbräu managing director Josef Westermeier, “but there were always overlaps with Landshut.”

After “intensive discussions” the collaboration was ended after two years.

Schmidt confirmed this in an interview with the local newspaper: “It makes more sense for us to concentrate on Landshut, and so we had to give up Erding with a heavy heart.” The personnel situation was “simply difficult”.

The “core area” of his business is Landshut, where he runs a number of restaurants, including the Zollhaus, and where he is also the innkeeper on the Dult.

And that overlaps with the fall festival.

“We want to do what we do better.

There’s no point in dancing at ten weddings, and sometimes less is more,” summarized Schmidt.

The new Erdinger festival hosts are particularly well known in Munich.

The Stiftls not only run the restaurant of the same name in Munich, they are also responsible for the catering at the Grünwalder Stadium, are represented at various folk festivals in their home region of Ingolstadt and run the Schützenlisl folk singers' tent at the Oidn Wiesn at the Oktoberfest.

“We have known the Stiftls for a long time,” emphasized Westermeier.

"And we're glad they said, 'We want to do it'."

Lorenz Stiftl said that he and his wife have done many folk festivals, “but this is something different because it is a brewery tent.”

What's also new for her is that there is only wheat beer and that it is only served in bottles.

“This is a big challenge,” said Lorenz Stiftl, but his wife Christine said: “We can do it.

I think it’s going to be a great story.”

In terms of structures, it's not a problem, you even have your own tent construction.

At the 2022 G7 summit in Garmisch, “we had 90,000 meals in four weeks,” stated Lorenz Stiftl.

What else sets his business apart: “We have our own butcher shop and we buy directly from the farmer.

“So we have a short supply chain.” The menu is traditional, “and we also have organic dishes on it.”

Mayor Max Gotz also welcomed the new festival hosts and emphasized: “I am a regular guest in your tent at the Oidn Wiesn.” He wished the Stiftl family “that they can develop a tradition here, and I hope that they can too Get staff.”

He is looking forward to the good cooperation, “and I wish you relaxed, satisfied guests.”

Weißbräu managing director Stefan Kreisz was pleased “that we have found someone we can trust with our beer”.

With a smile, he enthused that “it’s once again the best festival beer of all time.”

Master brewer Norbert Schmank is once again responsible for this.

And so that the new festival hosts could get an impression straight away, the festival beer 2024 was toasted - and the Stiftls were visibly impressed.

The outgoing festival host Patrick Schmidt also sent greetings via the local newspaper.

“We wish the new festival hosts all the best,” he emphasized and added with a smile: “I will definitely come to the Erdinger Autumn Festival, not as a host, but as a guest, because it really is a wonderful festival.”
