It's almost the end of the wish period on the Parcoursup platform.
Like every year, around 900,500 young people must express their post-baccalaureate registration wishes: license, BUT, prep, etc. Among the more than 23,000 training courses listed on the government website.
The timetable has been known since September: before obtaining their baccalaureate in July or reorientation after the baccalaureate, students must decide now on their registration wishes for September 2024. Here is our advice for successfully validating this step.
What to do before Thursday March 14 at 11:59 p.m.
This phase forces you to think about your future by answering this question: what are all the training options that you are considering for next year?
Medicine, mechanics, law, business schools... Regardless of file or budget: there will always be solutions to make your dreams come true.
Here is the list of 3 items that must be completed before Thursday evening midnight:
You must have registered on the platform www.parcoursup.gouv.fr (provided with an email address and an INE number)
You must have completed your profile and mandatory elements such as your school record, contact details of your parents,
You must have entered at least 1 wish and a maximum of 10 wishes for traditional training, and 10 wishes for work-study training for next year.
There is no need to rank these wishes in order of importance.
After Thursday March 14, it will no longer be possible to add new training wishes, you will only be able to confirm or abandon them.
Our advice for the wish entry stage
Let go !
The best strategy is to make as many wishes as possible: don't censor yourself!
You could possibly abandon them during the next stage, think about it later: you should not limit yourself or self-censor but on the contrary, think broadly, plan at least two options for continuing your studies... Every year on average students grant approximately 13 wishes, with alternating wishes not counting toward the limit.

Mix.
For the same field of activity, you must select selective training (in high demand) such as BTS, preparatory courses... And non-selective training such as university licenses... To have alternative solutions, and not to worry only find refusals concerning highly requested training courses.
You can also add for the same training a work-study option and a traditional course, or even training with or without an internship.
Use as many sub-requests as possible: for a type of training (law degree for example) ask for sub-requests from around ten different faculties.
Consider all scenarios.
Even if you are also applying for a university in Madrid or Milan, or you are thinking of doing a gap year... Don't close any doors and take a few wishes.
The wishes on Parcoursup can be abandoned afterwards.
Please note
: no hierarchy of wishes is requested and no admissions officer responsible for evaluating your file has access to your wish list.
Only your teachers and principal will have access to this list and will be able to “assess” them as part of the future sheet.
Parcoursup season 2024: the next episode?
The adventure has only just begun: you will then have until Wednesday, April 3, 11:59 p.m. to think even more carefully about these wishes and finally confirm them.
You will need to add a cover letter for each wish, complete your file and your interests, pay for any registration files (for joint business school competitions for example).
The cover letter which motivates one's choice of training is now not imposed by the platform, it is one of the 7 new features of the platform this year, but it remains requested by more than 70% of training courses according to Jérôme Teillard, head Parcoursup project for the Ministry of Higher Education.
A real important element of the file for jury leaders.
And a real source of stress for candidates who have to rack their brains to write it.
