According to neighborhood politicians, Humboldtstrasse is too designed for car traffic.

The situation on Humboldtstrasse was described as “anti-pedestrian” in a letter to the Au-Haidhausen district committee (BA).
Neighborhood politicians are now calling for a “people-friendly” design.
“Contrary to the general shift in traffic, priority is given to bicycles, let alone pedestrians, but apparently deliberately to car traffic,” residents complain in the letter.
The highlight is the traffic light at the intersection with Oefelestrasse: pedestrians have to wait up to a minute and a half, the fine dust pollution, and so on.
More space for cyclists and pedestrians
Something urgently needs to change in Humboldstrasse: the distribution of the available space must be based on the traffic transition; what is needed is “a people-friendly Humboldtstrasse,” is the demand.
Both the BA Au-Haidhausen (BA5) and the BA Untergiesing-Harlaching (BA18) have taken up this concern.
Humboldtstrasse lies on the border between the two districts.
“In accordance with BA 5, we are calling for the reconstruction of Humboldtstrasse,” explained Norbert Weigler (Greens), chairman of the BA 18 mobility committee. Specifically, the aim is to create more space for pedestrian traffic and safe cycle lanes.
Chicane traffic lights should be changed
Loading zones for companies should also be set up and, of course, the “chicane traffic lights” mentioned should be changed.
The majority of both BAs agreed to the demands on the MOR.
