The ghost ride of a bus in Tyrol's Zillertal almost ended in a catastrophe.

A parked Porsche ensured that things went relatively smoothly.

Fügen - The Zillertal in Tyrol is one of the most famous ski areas in Austria.

Near Mayrhofen you can ski down the mountain on the Hintertux glaciers until the summer. The ski lifts are also running in Fügen, Hochfügen, Zell am Ziller and Kaltenbach, the season is still running.

At the Spieljochbahn car park in Fügen on Monday morning around 10:10 a.m. there was a bus heading towards Hochfügen.

Skiers get off here if they want to visit the ski area, which is particularly popular with beginners.

It's a busy time of day and winter sports enthusiasts who have arrived by car also park here and get ready for their day on the slopes.

Suddenly the 51-year-old bus driver noticed that something was wrong with his 13-ton vehicle.

“According to his own information, he stopped the vehicle at the stop at the Hotel Kohlerhof due to a slightly noticeable technical problem and let the passengers get off,” the police report says.

Further: “The man parked the vehicle, left the bus and went to the rear to check the pressure there.”

Suddenly the bus took off and began to reverse itself down the slope.

It rolled 70 meters downhill into a parking lot below.

There the bus pushed several cars into each other and finally landed with its rear on the roof of a Porsche Carrera that belonged to a 61-year-old from Baden-Württemberg.

No one was injured as a result of the accident.

In total, the bus damaged seven vehicles and caused significant property damage.

The exact cause of the accident is currently the subject of further investigation.

Owner of the Porsche: “A bad feeling”

The owner of the Porsche, who comes from the Stuttgart area, was already on the mountain when the accident happened.

When he returned, the Porsche, which he has owned since 2012, was being towed away.

“That was the worst feeling about it.

I have a lot of memories with the car and it has a lot of value.

Let's see.

I hope it can be repaired,” said Michael F. to

His demolished Porsche hasn't given up yet.

“According to the ADAC, it is a total economic loss.

But I still have hope of getting him driving again,” he says.

There had been a lot of crashes on the slopes of the Tyrolean ski areas in the past few days.

In Fügenberg, a German jumped out of the chairlift and seriously injured himself.

In South Tyrol, around 200 participants in a biathlon cup narrowly escaped an avalanche.
